Deak
Harp
Deak has been playing the blues
harp since the early age of 12, when he was inspired by a
classmate to pick it up. He paid his dues in the 80s,
playing with and learning from harmonica masters James
Cotton and William Clarke. Recently he did a stint as the
featured harp player in the Kilborn Alley Blues Band. Today
Deak continues to perform solo at clubs and festivals
throughout the midwest and south, including the Juke Joint
Festival and the Arkansas Blues & Heritage
Festival.
Quotes
"Deak is one of the best up and coming harp players
on the road today." -James
Cotton
"Deak understands the language of Chicago Blues and
his harp playing sings with a strong, expressive tone and
snappy phrasing." -Bob
Margolin
"Deak is from the old school of blues. He really
knows the harmonica and it shows in his playing" -John
Primer
"Deak jumped into the audience and ran down the main
aisles at least twice, playing his harmonica like a man
possessed" -Robert
Santelli (Asbury Park Press)
