Front Street Blues Band
Bassist Tracy Garneau and
guitarist Cliff
McClanahan started the Front Street Blues band with harmonica player
Brian Smith and Drummer Greg Manning in 2004. They'd grown tired of
playing in bar bands that continually played the same classic rock and
blues standards; like Mustang Sally, Free Bird, and Old Time Rock and
Roll. It was time to make a change.
The Front Street Blues Band is an
original, jumpin'
and jivin', boogie-woogie blues band. In less than two years time, the
band had made it on the Detroit blues scene, and were winners of a
competition by the Detroit Blues Society to send a band to compete in
the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN. Memphis for
the
International Blues Challenge.
During their time together as a band,
they have had
the pleasure of opening for such acts as Mark Hummel, James Harman and
Watermelon Slim. They've recorded two albums, the latest being "Blues
Promised Land," made up of 15 original songs.
Quotes

bands
in the Midwest. They are tight and energetic with a very cool groove." -Steven J. Allen (Detroit Blues
Society)
"Strong, hard driving blues from the Motor City." -Paul Aaronson (Elmore Magazine)
"The musicianship is excellent...tight and exciting to listen to." -Michael Packer (Blues Blast)

Front
Street Blues Band - Blues Promised Land
Style:
Blues
The Front Street Blues Band
is an original, jumpin’ and jivin’, boogie-woogie
blues band, who’ve worked their way to the top of the Detroit
blues scene in only two short years. Their music is steeped deeply in
Detroit and urban blues traditions, but also takes influences from
other styles prevalent in Detroit – soul, jazz and rock. The
end result is a hard driving blues style that’s tight,
energetic, swinging and funky.
