Howard Glazer and the EL 34s
Howard Glazer draws upon over two decades of
blues and blues-rock guitar expertise on his new release Wired for
Sound. Howard continues to push the limits of the blues
genre, from acoustic/resonator work to his high energy blues. Wired for
Sound retains the same searing electric blues Glazer is
known for while moving forward to a new height. Many songs
maintain the bands traditional three piece format, with some exciting
additions on several tracks: a full horn section and several special
guests are featured, including David “Honeyboy”
Edwards and John Sinclair on Detroit
Blues Party. Howard’s guitar is hot as
an EL 34 vacuum tube through out and his adept acoustic resonator slide
skills are featured on two tracks. The EL 34s, Bob Godwin on
Bass and Steve Kohn on drums, are the current running through these
wires, laying down some tight rhythm, Detroit style.
Howard’s debut release Brown Paper Bag
garnered national and worldwide attention in both reviews and radio
airplay and charted at number 19 on the Living Blues
National radio charts. Howard’s second release Liquor Store
Legend also received reviews and airplay worldwide.
Howard Glazer has performed extensively
both nationally and internationally including festivals/tours in the
USA, Japan, Australia, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland,
Holland, Greece, England, Germany, Poland, Canada and The Czech
Republic, among others. Howard has shared the bill with many greats
including: Johnny Winter, B.B. King, Savoy Brown and David
“Honeyboy” Edwards to name a few. In Oct 2009
Howard performed at The Newcastle Blues Festival in Australia and in
June 2010 performed at The Kaavi Blues Festival in Finland.
Howard was recently nominated for a
2010 Detroit Music Award – Outstanding Blues Artist/Group and
for two 2008 Detroit Music Awards – Outstanding
Instrumentalist in the Blues/R&B category and Outstanding
Artist in the Blues/R&B Category. Howard has recently received
endorsements from Delaney Guitars, National Reso-Phonic Guitars, Stan
Hinesley Handcrafted Pickups, GHS Strings, Ohlinger Amplifiers, Seagull
Guitars, Blues Pearl Amps & Pedals and Rocktron. Howard has
also been voted “Best Guitarist” by the Detroit
Metro Times.
Quotes
"...raw and roady barroom fare with a gritty edge. If your
turn-ons include overdriven amplifiers and unassuming, retro
blues-rock, this is for you." -Tom
Hysop (Blues Revue)
"...although they do live up to the high energy moniker, they stay true
to the blues genre." -Peter
"Blewzzman" Lauro (Mary4Music)
"...Howard Glazer lays down smoking, razor sharp guitar
licks, a rawer version of Buddy Guy." -Bad Dog Blues
"This is electric blues that rocks when it wants to, but also knows the
value of restraint and when to ease up a bit." -George P Seedorff (Big City
Blues)
"With the EL 34s, Glazer expounds on the basic
blues-rock mix, taking it to a higher level while maintaining the
integrity of blues."
-Les Coles (Daily Yomirui)
"...as American as a .45 caliber Smith and Wesson, and
packin' about the same wallop." -James
Doran (Ottawa Blues Society)

Howard
Glazer and the EL 34s - Wired For Sound
Style:
Blues
"Wired For
Sound" is the latest release from Detroit Blues performer Howard
Glazer, and his band the EL 34s. This new release retains the same
searing electric blues style that Glazer is known for, mixing
traditional Blues elements with more modern elements, including a full
horn section at times. Glazer's guitar is as hot as an EL 34 vacuum
tube throughout, blazing and scorching on both slow and upbeat blues.
Special guests include Delta Blues legend David "Honeyboy" Edwards and
famed poet/musician/activist John Sinclair. There is no doubt that with
it's intense guitar, tight rhythm section, and Detroit styled power,
"Wired For Sound" is sure to leave you feeling fully charged!
