POWERHOUSE OF THE BLUES
Australian blues sensation
Andrea Marr is
steadily building her reputation as one of the breakthrough talents on
today's international blues scene. Already one of the most popular acts
in the Australian blues scene, she's making quite a splash in the
United States with her latest album and first US release,
“Little
Sister Got Soul!,“ on Chicago's Blue Skunk Music label. The
album
showcases her trademark sultry, sassy and soulful vocals as well as her
producing talents, and her songwriting talents - with Andrea writing
seven of the ten songs. The songs show her deep love for soul music as
well as her lifelong love of blues greats such as Etta James and
Freddie King.

Andrea has been singing the
blues since 1997,
and “Little Sister Got Soul!“ marks her fourth
recording.

the US for three weeks in late fall/early winter of 2010.

“Little
Sister Got Soul’” is Andrea Marr’s second
commercial
release, and showcases her trademark sultry, sassy and soulful vocals
that have earned her the nickname “The Pint Sized Powerhouse
of
the Blues,” and made her one of the most popular acts in the
Australian Blues scene. The album also showcases Andrea’s
songwriting, arranging, and producing abilities for the first time.
Seven of the ten songs on the album were penned by Andrea and show her
deep love of soul music as well as her lifelong love of blues greats
such as Etta James and Freddie King. Andrea comments, “This
big
soul sound, reminiscent of that STAX sound is what I always wanted to
create!” In 2009 the album was nominated for three Australian
Blues Music Awards and won the award for 2009 Australian Female
Vocalist of the Year.
